Step 2: Measure Before You Buy

- Diameter (width): The measurement across the widest point of the shade. The most important number.
- Height / Drop: How tall the shade is. For glass shades, this affects how much of the bulb is visible.
- Fitter opening: The diameter of the hole at the top where the shade attaches to the holder. For E27, this is typically 40–45mm.
The Ceiling Height Rule
