E27 Bulbs (Edison Screw)
Screw-in LED and vintage filament bulbs for pendants, lamps and wall lights
Which E27 bulb do I need?
An E27 bulb has a 27 mm screw-in cap, also called Edison Screw (ES). If your old bulb screws in, you need E27; two side pins mean B22 bayonet. Then pick brightness in lumens (about 806 lm replaces an old 60W), colour (2700K is warm white) and dimmable only if you have a dimmer switch.

E27 bulb questions
1. Is E27 the same as ES?
Yes. E27 and ES (Edison Screw) are the same 27 mm screw cap. It is not the same as E14 (SES, the small 14 mm screw used on candle bulbs) or B22 (bayonet with two pins). Every bulb on this page has an E27 cap.
2. E27 or B22: how do I tell which I have?
Look at the old bulb. A threaded metal base that screws in is E27. A smooth base with two small side pins that pushes in and twists is B22. They are not interchangeable, so buy the bulb that matches your lamp holder. Our E27 vs B22 guide has photos.
3. What LED bulb replaces a 60W bulb?
Go by lumens, not watts: an old 60W bulb gave about 806 lumens. On this page, the 8W ST64, 8W G95 and 8W G125 filament bulbs give 800 lm, and the 9W A60 gives 820 lm. For a softer glow, choose a 4W filament (about 450 lm).
4. What Kelvin is warm white?
Warm white is about 2700K, close to an old incandescent bulb and good for living rooms and bedrooms. 2200K is extra warm with an amber, candle-like tone. 6400K is cool daylight, better for garages, workshops and task lighting.
5. Why does my dimmable LED bulb flicker?
Usually the dimmer switch is an old type made for high-watt bulbs, or the total LED load is below the dimmer's minimum. Use a dimmable bulb with an LED-compatible (trailing-edge) dimmer and check the dimmer's minimum load. Non-dimmable bulbs should never go on a dimmer.
6. Filament bulb or standard LED: what's the difference?
Filament bulbs have visible glowing strands in clear or amber glass. They are made to be seen in open pendants and cages, and give a warm, lower-output glow. Standard LEDs such as the A60 have a frosted or white cover, give more light per bulb and suit enclosed shades.
